Working Together

Your city or town may get involved in the push for clean energy by qualifying as a Connecticut Clean Energy Community and installing a solar electric system on a town building. Here is the three-step process:

1.   Commit to purchasing 20% clean energy by 2010.
2.   Enroll local customers in the CTCleanEnergyOptions program:
        •   100 households or businesses, OR
        •   10% of a community's households, OR
        •   a 1 gigawatt-hour purchase of clean energy by a commercial or industrial customer OR
        •   100 customers from a regional school district.
3.   Make a municipal clean energy purchase equivalent to 5 percent of the municipal electricity load.

Earn A Solar Energy System

Under the Connecticut Clean Energy Communities Program, your city or town may qualify for one or more free clean energy systems - such as solar PV, solar thermal or wind - from the CCEF. There is no limit to the number of kilowatts of solar systems your town can earn as long as funding for this program is available. The first installation was commissioned at Middletown High School.
